jamming and finally sewing again!

Wow, I haven't stopped by my blog in a while! But I'm finally back to some sewing so thought I'd post about my new project.

But not until I show what I have been doing instead!
Visiting Farmer's markets, making jam and jelly and reading Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.

Strawberry jam
organic strawberry jam
made with organic strawberries-yum!

and root beer apple jelly
root beer apple jelly
made with Virgil's root beer (no high fructose corn syrup!) and organic apple cider from Hotchkiss, CO. I modified a root beer jelly recipe by adding apple cider in place of water.
(I haven't tried it yet but I love the color!)

now on to my new project-making a diaper tote bag for my friend Staci (who is due in 10 days!).

I am making a prototype since I am not using a pattern. Staci requested a tote bag with zippered top, end pockets for bottles, and waterproof lining. I decided to use my tiny stash of Orla Kiely dishtowels and laundry bag for my "muslin".

I am writing each step down as I progress so it's taking a while! more on this project later!
