A year ago I made a Hungry Caterpillar quilt for a school fund raiser and I had lots of leftover fabric from the whole line (fabric was from Andover). So I bought another main panel and made a very similar quilt for my friend who is due with her first baby (a girl!) in May.
Cheryl's shower was last night and it was so fun giving her this quilt, along with Eric Carle's Hungry Caterpillar board book!
For the quilting I decided on wavy lines running horizontal and I LOVE how it turned out. For my first Hungry Caterpillar quilt, I free motion quilted it. But I won't do that on my machine any more since I have lots of problems regulating the stitch (oh, how I want a Bernina with a stitch regulator!!).
I actually have one more main panel and most of the fabrics leftover yet again. So we will be seeing another one of these in the future. BTW, I designed this quilt but it was very closely inspired by quilts made by Emily of Carolina Patchworks.
